Letters to Alma (Bundle 2, Jan-Feb)

Dearest Alma,

Much time has passed since last I wrote you. I must confess, much has happened. I have not been of a mind to pen my thoughts of late.

On the 14^th day of Capricorn (January 5^th, by the Crystallis reckoning), more Heroes arrived…and others, as well. People known to all the Heroes appeared in crystal form, vanishing within a candlemark or two. We still do not know why, or whence they came.

I saw Tietra. I am ashamed to write to you that I reacted most poorly. We never spoke about what happened that day... I should not have hidden it away within myself, where it could fester. Tietra deserves better than that. When I am able to return to you, I will tell you about what happened. She will not be forgotten again.

It took many of my friends here in the city to bring me back to myself. They revealed their true meddle that day, and they are heroes of the highest caliber.

Ten days later, one of our neighboring countries was attacked by the Heran Empire. This attack came without warning or cause. We Heroes rushed to the aid of the citizens there. I was able to lead some townsfolk to safety as the city burned, before joining others to stem the flow of enemy soldiers into the town.

We won our battle, but suffered many losses. Four Heroes were captured by the enemy’s forces, Yuffie and Luffy included. They are still held by our enemy. The Heroes closest to them, myself included, have vowed not to rest until they are rescued.

A shared dream revealed to us the opportune time to attempt our rescue. Now, we are gathering our strength and plotting how best to infiltrate the Empire. This mission carries a great risk of death or capture, but no threat of danger can turn us from it.

I hope that I will be able to write you of our victory with my next letter. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers, little sister, as I keep you in mine.
